Kerala Backwater

Kerala is well-known for its lush greenery and world famous backwaters. It has been tagged by National Geographic as one of the must see 50 destinations of the world. The Backwaters in Kerala are a chain of brackish lagoons, lakes and other water bodies lying parallel to Arabian Sea. The backwaters were found by the work and action of waves and shore currents innovating low barrier islands across the mouths of many rivers which flows down from Western Ghats. The backwaters are also quite popular for Snake boat races, with the Nehru Boat Race being the most renowned amongst all, which take place in Alleppey backwater.
